Hello Crafters....
Confession time.... who got a little over excited after seeing Jamie's new Christmas Collection on TV?
WoW, another fantastic Collection and you know me by now, Christmas cards are one of my favourite makes!!
So today I'm stepping it up and creating a beautiful, yet simple box which you can create with just two sheets of card. So no matter how experienced a crafter you are, you can do this :-)
Step 1
Take two A4 sheets of Jamie Rodgers Crafts Elite Card in Romantic Red to create your base.
Score at 4cm in on all four sides, and also score the top at 3.8cm on all sides.
✅ TOP TIP - Use a Bone Folder to crease smooth edges along your card.
Now in each corner you will see a square; cut in from the side along one edge only, and then cut out a little triangle on each corner. This is what is known as "the flower pot cut."
This will be where you put your glue when constructing your box.
Repeat on all corners and on both sheets.
Step 2
Gluing your corners is easy....the only thing you need to remember is that each corner is straight when gluing together.
✅ TIP - Here I used paper clips to keep my corners together as I used a wet glue. However mini pegs are also good to use.
You will love Jamie's new tacky glue which is perfect for construction. It gives a super strong bond.
Give it about 5 minutes before removing the paperclips.
Next we will put on our panels and I have used Raven Black Elite Card for this.
These are the measurements :-
LID
Top Panel 5 inches x 8.25 inches
SIDES
Long Panel 1.3 inches x 8.2 inches
Short Panel 1.3 inches x 4.7 inches
Once cut, use a wet glue to apply to your box lid.
✅ NEW GLUE - After trialling Jamie's new glue I can honestly say is it amazing.
It dries clear meaning if you make any mistakes, you don't see them.
AND... the 3-part nozzle applicator is like no other I've worked with - a real game changer!!

Step 3
Take a sheet of Gold Mirror card and cut out four corners using the Jolly Holly Corners Die Set, Again taking the same card, cut out a set of the Straight Lines die cuts in one pass.
Using wet glue, apply the wider strips to your box lid sides. (See Photo Below 📸)
Next apply your corners to the lid and then using the thinner strips, join up your corners.
(See Photo Below 📸)
What beautiful and professional looking finishing touches do these corners give to a box :-)
Step 4
Now let's decorate the panel, true festive style!!!!!!
Taking Gold Mirror and Romantic Red Card, I cut out my sentiment using Jamie's Merry Christmas Circle Die Set.
I glued the layers together once cut.
Next using Gold Mirror card I cut out two of the large holly leaves from The Festive Foliage Die Set.
✅ TOP TIP - I slightly creased each holly leaf down the centre to give a little dimension.
For my berries, I cut out the holly leaf in red card and just glued the berries onto the appropriate place, but you can also use a pearl for speed.
Glue these to your panel and then apply the sentiment circle to top using foam tape.
To complete the box I added some black gems to the side panels.
A nice and easy box for you to make, and so many options for you to repeat with different styles and occasions.
Thank you so much for reading my blog, have fun with this construction project and don't forget, I'd love to see your ideas so be sure to share with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.
Have a fabulous rest of the week and be creative... always :-)
Take Care
