Design Team - Jamie Rodgers Essential Collection ~ Butterfly Gallery By Ian Rump-Smith

Well how is everyone?

Did you manage to catch Jamie's launch of his own new Brand and Collection on TV?

If you haven't yet seen it.... keep reading as I feel you may love it (as much as we do) :-)

Wow what a start to showcase some amazing products!

This week I've made a card using a selection of his new products, and give you all some inspiration for when your crafty goodies are delivered!!

So lets get cracking......

Step 1

To begin, I chose a white 8x8 blank as my card base.

Next using my Stitched Square Die Set I cut my mats and layers for the front.

I used Jamie's black card and gold mirri.

This is the layer sequence...

I glued only the bottom two layers to my card base, as I had to work on the top layer next and needed to be able to move it around!

Step 2

Time to cut out my elements for my card.....

I used Jamie Rodgers Essential Collection - Butterfly Corners and Straight Line Die Sets, which were cut out in gold mirri.

I love the corner dies as you have the cross die, which allows you to cut the four corners at once!

(We will use the cross die again later).

Now I only needed two of the thin 'straight line' die cuts, however it was easier to cut out the whole die and then use the others for another project.

I glued the corners onto the top mat first and then added the straight lines.

To make sure the lines fitted perfectly, I turned one upside down and then put it against one side of a corner and then marked the other end.

I just snipped this off and then glued it along the edge, corner to corner. Repeat all the way round.

Step 3

The next part is the centre mats and layers and for these I used black card, white card and gold mirri.

Using the cross die from the corner set, I cut this out in Mirri.

I then used my Stitched Square dies to cut the next mat in black, and the top one in white.

I glued the gold and black layers together and put aside.

Next I used a stencil from the new Collection - Elegant Butterfly Formation Stencil on the white layer. These are amazing to work with in the new 8x8" size!!

My favourite tool, and go to when working with stencils is Wendy Vecchi's - Make Art Stay-tion, works a dream!

Next I released my card and stencil, and taking a blending brush and the VersaFine Clair Baby Pink ink pad I applied my colour.

If you want darker just go all over it again until happy.

Once finished I glued my layers together.

I glued this to the centre of my card, inbetween my corners.

Step 4

The last few touches now for my card.....

I cut two butterflies from the Elegant Butterflies Collection, in gold mirri.

I cut just the sentiment from the Happy Birthday Circle die set, and carefully snipped off the outer piece so I was just left with the words.

I glued the sentiment at an angle on the white layer and then added the butterflies.

To finish off I added some pink pearls to my corners.

Well I hope you've enjoyed my blog and I look forward to seeing your creations using Jamie's New Essential Collection.

Don't forget, we love to see what you create, so please go on and share with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Have a great rest of the week and happy crafting!!

Take care

Ian x
