Design Team -Special Couple By Ian Rump-Smith

Happy Wednesday Crafters!

What's everyone been up to in their craft rooms this week?

I have been in my garden sorting out my plants, which gave me the inspiration for this project.

My card this week can be used for Wedding, Engagement or Anniversary, the choice is yours...

Step 1

I started with an 8x8 card base, and created some mats and layers with my Stitched Square Die Set.

▪️Bottom Mat - Pink Matt Mirror

▪️Middle Mat - Dark Pink

▪️Top Layer - Light Pink

I took the light pink layer first, and using my Make-Art Stay-tion and Creative Expressions stencil,

I glazed my design. I placed the stencil on top of my pink card and secured with the magnets.

Using a Palette Knife, I applied my Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Glaze (Pink).

Once done, remove the stencil and wash in soapy water straight away.

TIP - Leaving paste on your stencils to set will damage them, so wash immediately after use. Leave to dry for about an hour.

Step 2

Let's make the wreath

Using Sizzix Wedding Wreath Thinlits Die Set - cut this out of white card and then colour with

Distress Oxide Ink Pads.

Here I used Peeled Paint and Rustic Wilderness and applied with a blending sponge.

Next I used a very thin Embossing Tool and foam pad and put a crease in the centre of each leaf to give some dimension.

Next I used white card again and cut out all my flower pieces.

I used Distress Oxide Inks to colour my pieces and I used the following colours :-

▪️Spun Sugar

▪️Kitsch Flamingo

▪️Gathered Twigs

▪️Mustard Seed

▪️Tattered Rose

▪️Milled Lavender

▪️Worn Lipstick

Again I used my blending sponges to add my colours.

With my roses I used my tweezers to twist and roll. Also I coloured both sides.

The circle at the end is where you will glue the curled rose.

NOTE - Before gluing make sure you let it unravel just a little so you cover the circle.

Step 3

I made the other flower up by using the packaging as a reference, however you can do whatever you want and make the flowers your own.

Again I used my foam pad and Embossing Tools to add a little dimension to my flowers.

Step 4

Next I glued down my mats and layers to my card base, and using my fine nozzle glue I attached my wreath. This is very delicate, so I took my time and made sure it wasn't too wonky.

Once adhered, I then glued all my flowers to the wreath -putting my roses at the top.

Step 5

The final touch is the sentiment.

Here I've used one of Sue Wilson's "To A Special Couple."

Cut it 4 times - 3 in white card and 1 in matt gold.

✅ NOTE - This is from one of the Duo Sets, but there are also hundreds of Mini Expressions to choose from.

I filed all pieces together, ending with the gold on top.

This technique gives it a nice raised look and similar to MDF.

I glued this to the centre of my wreath and my card is complete.

I hope this will inspire you to get creative.....

What a beautiful card love the shades of pink oh and those tiny flowers, a bit too delicate for my arthritic fingers these days sadly.
