Design Team ~ Pretty Frames By Lynn Lewis

Design Team ~ Pretty Frames By Lynn Lewis | Craftmania Blog

Hello Everyone.....

This week I've brought you "a two for one" :))

Hopefully you've seen the classy white and silver Thank You card that I made for Facebook last week! Well today I have made one as a Birthday card, and another as a mini card.

So let’s get started......

Step 1

Making The Mini Card

You will need this beautiful Spellbinders die set

▪️This was simply cut out of coloured card by using the larger inner die, and a piece of card which was folded in half.

▪️Place your die onto your plate and then place the creased edge of the card slightly under the top cutting edge so it doesn’t cut the top. You can tape it in place then cut.

Hopefully you now have a tent fold mini card (as seen 📸)

TOP TIP - Washi Tape is a brilliant low tack tape you can use to hold your dies in place, and then easily remove. (I've popped a couple of packs in my Shopping List below which are a bargain the the SALE).

Step 2

▪️Cut out two white ovals using the centre die and also cut another coloured single piece like the card base, to stick on the back so it looks neater. Plus one of the ornate points to stick on the top

(see photo 📸).

▪️Stick one white oval on the inside of the card and select a stamp of your choice to stamp onto the other one.

Here I've used the Two Jays Periwinkle Stamp, but any small flower stamp will be fine it was stamped out with Memento Dew Drop Ink Pad - Teal Zeal

▪️It was delicately coloured with the Studio Colouring Pencils which I like to use for softness.

Stick this onto the card front and add a mini butterfly to finish.

📝 NOTE - Card size including the point is 11.5cm x 9cm.

Step 3

Making Card 2

For this gorgeous card you will need the same die set as above.

Cut out the whole back piece, and the same piece with the ornate die in it, and an additional inner plain one with the flat edges.

Cut another as a frame using the size below with it, and then to complete, cut out the smaller oval.

Step 4

Colour the frame elements.....

For this I used the Mica Magic Set Midnight Aurora and coloured (as seen 📸).

▪️Stick the green ornate tipped piece on top of the plain purple piece.

▪️Take the frame and adhere it onto the inner purple piece, and then stick foam pads onto the purple frame and stick it on top of the green piece. Lastly stick the small green oval on the top with pads also

Then the ornate pointy bits in each side.

So if you’re still with me.... it should look layered as it does in the picture above lol.

Step 5

Take a 6x6" blank card and trim it to a 5¾ inch square.

Now cut three pieces of card.

▪️1x 5⅝ inch square

▪️1x 5½ inch square

▪️1x 5⅜ inch square

Then colour around the edges - largest green, next purple and then leave the smallest white and stick them onto the card blank.

Step 6

Adhere the ornate frame onto the card front.

Now for the fun part of decorating it with some pretty little flowers of your choice :-)

▪️Here I've used the above die set of Daisy Blossoms - left white with coloured centres and leaves still using the Midnight Aurora palette.

▪️Then I've cut out a "Happy Birthday" sentiment and coloured it purple before sticking it in the centre to finish.

If you're like me and you like to match the inside of the card, just cut out the pieces of card again (as you have with the front) and glue on the inside back piece.

I’m really loving this die set; it’s so versatile, that I’ve made four different cards with it so far - and all just as lovely!!

So I'm setting the challenge for you to try this out and share with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Well thanks for reading and I very much look forward to seeing you all next week.

Have a great crafty week

Take care

Lynn x
