Hello,
Today I am doing one of my favourite techniques with pixie sparkles and stamped flowers.
It’s great fun to do with really nice results.
So let’s get started.
Step 1:
Take a floral stamp of your choice, I am doing two today so have opted for Jane Gill's Garden Spray and Scented Blooms stamps.
Now take a sheet of A4 smooth watercolour card and cut it in half then stamp out your flowers with versamark and heat emboss with gold embossing powder as seen in picture 1.
Next, tape your stamped image down with low tack tape, as seen below, on some card to keep it flat as you don’t want water running off.
Step 2:
Select some Pixie Sparkle powders, I used Red Oxide - Sunburst - Fuchsia Rose and Zesty Lime.
Hopefully you can see in picture 2 that I have tapped out some of the Red Oxide into the middle of the flower petals. I then tapped out some Fuchsia Rose on the edges and some Sunburst in the flower centres and Zesty Lime on the leaves.
Don’t tap out too much as it can be difficult to dilute it in a small space.
When you’re happy with your colours take a spray bottle of water, just a little hand spray and gently start to spray into the flowers until the water starts to pool as seen in picture 2.
At this point you can use a piece of kitchen roll and dip it into the places that are too dark to lighten them if you so wish or to control the water.
Step 3:
Now you’re happy with your Pixie Powder take your heat gun and dry the picture.
Now unstick the tape and trim round your picture.
I then matted mine on some pink card and a burgundy scalloped edged die from my stash as seen in picture 3, then I stuck this on a cut down 8 x 8 cream card and finished it with a Wordie from the everyday set 'Thank you!'
A little tip: I do spray a quick burst of hairspray on the finished image to stop the mica colours rubbing off onto my hands.
Step 4:
As you can see in picture 4 this is my other card where I only used the Fuchsia Rose Pixie Sparkles with Sunburst and Zesty Lime.
So I backed it with some lime green card and topped with a pink double stitched Noble rectangle frame that measures 4 & 1/4 x 5 & 5 /16 inches
I placed it at an angle, I usually do this when I can’t find a frame to fit lol.
Then stuck it on a cut down white 8" x 8" card to 5 & 1/4 x 6 & 3/4 inches(only because I didn’t have any 5 x 7 cards) then finished with a Wordie everyday sentiment 'Happy Birthday' I coloured with twisted citron distress ink.
I also added a bow from the lovely pale green sheer Ribbon with white saddle stitch.
I do hope you will have a go at this technique I think they look like fancy watercolours when done and it really is enjoyable.
Have a great crafting week.
Take care
