Design Team ~ Spring Is In The Air By Ian Rump-Smith

It's Wednesday again crafters!

I'm in the mood for Spring, which will soon be here ..... so I thought I would brighten things up with this lovely card!!

The New Craft Artist Mica Magic was the inspiration for my card.

Step 1

I used an 8x8 card base and cut out my mats and layers using Sue Wilson's Noble Stitched Squares Die Set.

My mats are as follows :-

First mat is pink mat card, followed by Dovecraft's Kraft card, Dovecraft Green card, Dovecraft Pink card and then finally Creative Expressions Coconut White card.

I glued all to my card base except the top white layer.

Step 2

Next, I stencilled my top layer using my Make Art Stay-tion.

RECOMMENDATION - I can't stress enough - it's the best thing out there to do perfect stencilling, and cuts out the fuss of taping as it has magnets to hold your work in place!

I chose to use this stencil as it is just so pretty.....

I secured it onto my board and then got into my "artist mode" lol!!

Using my Craft Artist Mica Magic - Dawn Aurora Set and my finger daubers I set to work.

The colours are vibrant, yet subtle at the same time.

I mixed up my colours and got this beautiful result.

I found that you didn't need to continuously add the mica to the daubers as they went a long way with just one application.

For some finishing touches, I used my Nova Fine Tip Metallic Pens to add a darker dot on each flower.

Step 3

Here I created a heart....

If you don't have a heart die, then you can either draw your own or download a shape from the internet.

Using a straight edge from a scrap piece of card, I coloured several layers over my heart.

✅ TOP TIP - One great thing with the micas is that if two colours mix, they don't make a new colour or blend together.

Next I attached my stencilled design to my card using 2mm foam (I've popped a few options in the Shopping List).

I then also added the heart to the centre of my design with foam pads.

Step 4

Now I am a sucker for colouring my own flowers, so here I've cut from Foundations Coconut White Card some of Jamie's Rose Blossoms die cuts along with some leaves too.

Using mica powders and daubers, I added some colour to the petals - making it darker in the centres.

I coloured the leaves and then used my Woodware Shaping Pal (foam mat) and an Embossing Tool to give the flowers a realistic finish and some dimension.

I glued the pieces together in two's as I didn't want bulky flowers.

I used silicone glue and attached them to my card, and also adhered some pearls in the centre of each flower.

To finish I chose a sentiment from Creative Expressions Wordies Collection.

I've had so much fun with these Micas; there are three lovely palettes to choose from.

You know us crafters that once you fall in love with them, you will end up with them all lol!!

I'd love to see your ideas so be sure to share with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Well thanks for reading and I look forward to making my next creation for you all next week.

Have a great week guys
