Hello Crafters.....
Part of the magic, and what I enjoy about being on Craftmania's Design Team, is that I get to be creative, and share with you the latest Hand Picked By Jamie Bundles.
However, for those of you who have purchased previous Kits (or those who may be tempted still lol) we feel it is nice to revisit them, and give you that little extra inspiration....
So today we are going to be working with April's Hand Picked By Jamie Bundle!!
As with all my tutorial Blog posts, you will find the Shopping List for this project at the bottom of the page.
First of all, you will need a 7x7 Black Card Blank and two sheets of black card.
Cut your black card to the following measurements :-
One sheet measuring 15.5cm x 15.5cm
Second sheet measuring 13.5cm x 13.5cm
Take the larger of the two black sheets (which you have just cut) and trim all four corners with a Corner Rounder Punch. Once you have done this, go around the edges a couple of times with your Cosmic Shimmer Chalk Cloud Blending Ink in Pink Princess.
NOTE - It is easy to forget that Cosmic Shimmer Chalk Cloud Blending Inks show up on black card. I got very excited when I used the Princess Pink on this card, and found that just one coat gives a beautiful purple/greyish look, and if you go for the two coats, it lightens again!!
When you have achieved the look you are after, you need to then stick it onto your black card blank. Trim the corners of the black piece and then stick that on top.
For the next step, we are going to be doing some die cutting, so get Sue Wilson's New Zealand Wellington Craft Die and another piece of black card.
Cut out the die which will comprise of one outer section, a plain inner piece, and a patterned centre.
Now we want to get this to match with out previous matt and layers.
So here you need to colour the outer piece and inner plain element with two coats of your
Cosmic Shimmer Pink Princess Chalk Cloud Blending Ink, and also the patterned section with just one coat.
You will see it starting to come together....
Stick the patterned die cut element to the matted card in the centre, and then stick the small patterned centre on top of the plain centre piece. Here I added the centre element of the card with foam pads to give it some depth and a focal point.
Now if you are lucky, and have a few of the Hand Picked By Jamie Bundles, it gives you so many options to mix and match, and that is what I am doing here....
From March's Bundle, I have taken Sue Wilson's Triple Layer Spiral Pearl Flower Die.
Cut eight of the smaller spiral flowers and colour once again with your Cosmic Shimmer Pink Princess Chalk Blending Ink. Then cut approximately 5 leaves and colour with a Distress Ink Pad - Shabby Shutters.
Shape these as you wish, stick together and then add to your card with your Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue.
For my sentiments, I have chosen the greeting ‘With Love,’ which is from Jamie Rodgers ‘Just A Note’ A5 Clear Stamp Set.
TOP TIP - Always do you stamping last, and do not colour over your stamped image afterwards, as it will fade out the greeting.
Now to create your flag for the sentiment....
You have two options here.... you can either make your own as I have done below, or Creative Expressions also have a couple of flag dies available.
I stamped the sentiment onto a spare piece of card which was left over and already coloured with the pink ink. Make sure you choose a piece of card which is bigger / longer than you need, as you can then cut it to the exact size you want.
I measured out three layers for my flag, consisting of black card, and black card coloured with my pink ink. Before sticking them together, lay them on top of each other and cut a pennant out at one end, and pull each layer back so you can see the layers. Finished size is 7cm x 1.8cm.
Add to the card using Foam Pads from your tape roll.
To finish my card, I added some pink pearls to the corners and to the centre of my flowers.
If this was your first introduction to the Cosmic Shimmer Chalk Cloud Blending Inks, then I highly recommend experimenting with the different colours on various substrates and on black card. It is amazing what effects you can achieve.... and as Jamie always tells us, "what have you got to lose, apart from a sheet of card?"
Thank you for joining me.... don't forget to share you makes with us on our Facebook Group -
See you next time!!
