Happy Saturday Crafters!
What an amazing Hand Picked By Jamie Bundle we've had this month.... I still have so many ideas of what I want to create with it!! How are you getting on with yours?
So this week is my turn to have a play with Sue Wilson's beautiful Mosaic Bauble Background Die Set! We have already seen some wonderful card examples in our Facebook Group, as well as a couple of brilliant Blogs from Ian Rump-Smith which have been shared on here over the past couple of weeks.
Although there are similarities in most of our styles, this Bundle gives you so many options; whether you are looking for an elegant and traditional card, or a fun, mixed media creation...
I find it fascinating, to see what we all create using the same set of products in these Bundles so please don't forget to share in our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.
So let's get cracking with this weeks' card...
As always, you can find the Shopping List for my card at the bottom of the page.
I started with a sheet of A4 white card and folded it in half, then cut it down so the card measured
18.5 x 14.5cm (7 1/4 x 5 3/4 inches).
I then took a sheet of Non-Shedding Red Glitter Card and folded this in half, which I then stuck onto the white card. This overlapped, trimmed off the excess around the edges.
For the next step, I used Sue Wilson's Mosaic Bauble Background Die Set (from the Bundle) and Gold Silk Mirror Card. Here I cut out several elements to create layers all in the Gold Silk Mirror Card. - so you will need to
Cut out the 'mosaic frame' part of the die
Cut out a plain frame
Cut out the 'bauble elements'
You will also need a plain piece of card to go behind all of your elements.
This Gold Silk Mirror card is gorgeous to work with, and compliments this die set beautifully.
Right, so let's move onto the next step...
I stuck the outer mosaic frame onto my plain gold frame, using foam pads as I wanted to add some depth to my design. One you have done this, then stick the outer frames together.
TOP TIP - I would recommend using a foam roll for this, as you are then able to cut to size in thin strips, and you can add some additional glue for extra strength. I find this gives a better result.
Next, I glued the bauble element to the plain card.
I carefully glued around the edges and behind my baubles, trying not to apply too much glue.
For this, the Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue is perfect, as if you do accidentally slip, it disappears once dry!! Another alternative to glue, are Creative Expressions Sticky Specks Adhesive Sheets, which are great for using with intricate die cuts.
Now that your Bauble section of the card is stuck flat in the centre of your Non-Shedding Red Glitter Card, the next step is the outer frame.
For this, I applied two layers of foam roll and glued underneath it and then stuck it around the bauble centre piece.
To finish the card, I used some lovely red glitter gems on my baubles and snowflakes to add detail.
For my sentiment, I used my Sue Wilson's Mini Expressions Die - Christmas Greetings, again using my Red Non-Shedding Glitter Card.
For the last finishing touch, I added a delicate red bow. - for this I used my hot glue gun.
I stuck this onto the corner of my card using my hot glue gun, and also applied a tiny amount to the ribbon tails to keep them in place and give a little shape.
This is a super easy card to make, and gives you so many options if you choose to make it in other colours...
Thank you once again, and I hope you enjoy re-creating this card. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch. Keep sharing your projects with us in our Facebook Group; we love to see them :-)
Have a great week
Lynn :-))
