Hey Crafters.....
Rodney is officially in the building :-)
I couldn't help myself... I'm addicted to making these tags, so here's another design inspiration for you! Following Jamie Rodgers Crafts new MDF Collection - also check out the new 'Album' on our Facebook Group where you can find more ideas and also add your own!
Today's fun creative tag is brilliant, as it's nice and simple to make, and one which could be done with the kids / grand children.
Let's get started......
Step 1
To begin, I took the largest tag Jamie Rodgers Crafts Set above.
I covered this with Polar White Elite Card and used Jamie's new Clear Drying Glue to adhere the card to the tag, a a craft knife to cut around the card to give clean edges.
Next I took a blending brush, together with my Distress Oxides Ink Pad - Tumbled Glass and covered 90% of the tag; just leaving a small area at the bottom white. (See Picture below 📸)
Step 2
I need to add some more detail and finish the background...
So here I've used one of the lovely snowflake stamps which comes with the Rodney The Snowman Set above.
I used one of Jamie's beautiful new inks in Piggy Pink to randomly stamp the snowflake over the blue area of the tag.
Next I stamped out two images Rodney onto Polar White Elite Card with Versafine black ink;
one will be kept whole, whilst the other will be just be used for decoupage elements.
I used alcohol markers to colour, however the choice of colouring is yours - from pens, inks, pencils, watercolours and more.....
I left a bleed on the main image and then the decoupage pieces I cut to the edge.
I used glue to apply the small pieces and then set aside to dry.
Step 3
Next I took the Classic Poinsettia Die and ran it through my machine, again using Polar White Elite Card.
📝 NOTE - Jamie's NEW Elite Card range is wonderful to work with. Brilliant qualiy for die cutting and the coloured card is double sided with a solid core, meaning when you tear it, the colour runs right the way through :-)
The large flower I cut down to make the petals look more simplistic as this would be my Christmas Rose flower. I left this white but just coloured the centre piece in yellow. (See Picture below 📸)
I used a ball tool to add some dimension, before gluing my pieces together.
Now focusing on the thin flower; I coloured this using Distress Oxide Ink - Salt Water Taffy.
This is such a beautifully soft and pretty colour to work with.
Next I took the my Festive Foliage Die and cut the holly out (again in white) and coloured using
Distress Oxide Inks - Old Paper.
I cut my pine leaves in Silver Mirror card and the berries in white and added colour to the stem.
I added some red pearls to the holly piece and the glued the layers of the Poinsettia together after pinching the petals. I also pinched the holly leaves down the centre.
Step 4
For the sentiment.... I chose the Happy Christmas Circle.
I cut the back in white card and lightly used a blending brush I had used with the Saltwater Taffy earlier, without adding anymore ink.
I then cut the sentiment wording from a NEW Pink colour Mirror Card in Jamie's range.
These are luscious vibrant colours are defintely a stash temptation lol!
I glued together and then gathered all the pieces together.
I then adhered all the elements to my tag (See photo for reference 📸).
Once completed, I added black gems to Rodney's eyes and buttons.
Last finishing touch.... adding your choice of ribbon. Here I chose this lovely silver as it co-ordinates nicely with my 'snowy' theme.
I used my pokey tool to push where the hole was and then added Grey Sheer Ribbon.
And that's it, how easy was that guys?
Well I hope you enjoyed my blog and will have a go yourself or as a family craft.
