Mother's Day Scrapbook Page By Ian Rump-Smith

Mother's Day Scrapbook Page By Ian Rump-Smith | Craftmania Blog

Well we are nearing Spring by the day (or at least I'm on countdown lol) so as its' been a while since my last Scrapbook page... it was time to bring you another. What a perfect opportunity with Mother's Day coming up on 10th March!! This one I love as it could give you inspiration for any kind of floral page.

Step 1

I started with two white 12x12 pages.....

I've used one as my base, and the other I cut down to approx. 2cm.

📝 NOTE - Any colour 12x12 is fine to use as will get dirty.

I used my Make Art Stay-tion to hold down my smaller sheet in the centre of my base.

I then used a Blending Brush and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink to colour around all the edges.

Once finished I used the purple pen from my Nova Metallic Markers to go around the inside edges of my page.

Step 2

Taking a sheet of A4 along with my Make Art Stay-tion I did some stenciling.

I chose Katkin Kraft's Romantic Rose Stencil which is gorgeous to work with and perfect for this!

I found blending sponges to be best to work with here, for the small detailed areas of a stencil.

My chosen Distress Oxide Ink here :-

▪️Kitsch Flamingo

▪️Shaded Lilac

▪️Bundled Sage

▪️Peeled Paint

I only did the flowers, as wanted the rest to stay white.

I also did another one but only a small part of the design.

This is for the bottom part of the design, but all will be apparent soon.

I cut out both pieces around the flowers, and on my large design I cut it square like in the stencil shape.

Extra flowers

I used my fine-liner pens to add a little definition to the leaves and flowers.

📝 NOTE - My flowers might look orange, however this was only because I'd used the wrong sponge on one flower and the colour changed so I did all three the same... but I love the result.

Step 3

I wanted a little colour on my larger design, so I used some red liner tape around the edges and then added some Cosmic Shimmer Frosted Violet Aurora Flakes.

TIP - A dry paint brush is good here, to get rid of any excess flakes and tidy the border up.

I added my smaller stencil flowers to the bottom of the larger one with some 3mm Foam Tape.

Now I wanted this to be like a large pocket, so any keepsakes could be stored from the special day.

A 1mm Foam Tape to stick to my page.

I also added the sentiment "Mum" from Jamie Rodgers' Sentiment Collection Set

I cut this in pink card to match the pocket.

Step 4

Now lets's make some roses..... if you love roses, these are magical and there's also a brilliant tutorial on Jamie Rodgers YouTube Channel to watch!

Following this, I've made these which I am super proud of...

Here I've used Distress Oxide Inks Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick to colour my roses to give a nice gradient. My blending brushes worked best for these.

I cut some of the leaves from the same set and coloured them with Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Ink.

On this occasion I curled my leaves with my fingers to give dimension.

I had a small flower die cut left over, so I used a petal and curled it around a paintbrush and glued to make a bud. I attached to one of the leaf sprays and then I used one of the rose leaves from another spray to encase my bud.

Here as seen above📸 - I also cut some random long grass like pieces and 3 stems and coloured with Bundled Sage Distress Oxide.

I used wet glue and tucked inside my pocket.

TIP - I then used Silicone glue to add the flower heads to my 3 stems as this gives a bit more dimension than ordinary wet glue.

Step 5

The final stage was the 2 frames that would be for photos or a poem.

I had a piece of embossed card left from another project, so I just cut this in half and lightly used a blending brush over the card I had used earlier that had some pink ink left on it.

I then cut some smaller squares and rubbed some Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide around the edges using a blending sponge.

I glued these into the middle of each frame and set these on the right side of my page.

To complete my Project I added to spare leaves to the frames and a silver peel off border in-between the frames.

Well I hope you scrapbookers out there enjoyed my blog, and maybe convinced our non-scrapbookers to give it a go. It is such a wonderful hobby and great for keepsakes.

I will be back next week with a brand new project.

We would love to see what you've created, so don't forget to share with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Take care all and thanks for joining me.
