Nellie Snellen Design Team Spotlight ~ Meow! By Lynn Lewis

Hello all.....

Today I bring you another NEW Spotlight card featuring one of Nellie Snellen's beautiful stamp sets.

Now, you are probably most familiar with the gorgeously detailed winter scene stamps from this Brand, however they also do the most adorable animal images...

Building The Card

▪️To build this card, I had set my mind to using one of Jamie Rodgers' Canvas Collection Dies.

I opted for the Hexagon Canvas, cutting out the centre in white card to use as a box frame.

▪️Next you will need Creative Expressions Mini Stencil - What A Mesh.

Using Pumice Stone Distress Ink, stencil this all over the Hexagon Canvas frame.

Remember, it doesn't need to be perfect, you just need to create the pattern - so have fun!

▪️Assemble your frame with Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue.....

TOP TIP - Woodware's Mini Pegs are an inexpensive and invaluable tool to construct your Canvas Dies with. Leave them on for a minute or two to adhere your project - not longer as they may stick to your work!

Once done, set aside for later

There are two brilliant videos on Jamie Rodgers YouTube Channel demonstrating with his Canvas Collection. I'll pop the links below for you to have a look!!

▪️Take your hexagon shaped card that fits inside the frame, and using Speckled Egg Distress Ink with a Blending Tool, go around this piece leaving a bit in the middle.

Stamping & Colouring

▪️Now take your hexagon over to your Stamp Platform and place your cat stamp over the middle, stamping the image with Memento - London Fog.

▪️I coloured my cat using a little Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

I popped some ink onto my Blending Mat and used a water brush to paint it very lightly.

For the nose, I used a light pink pen (or you could use a Distress Ink), and to colour the eyes I used a a touch of Speckled Egg. Now carefully stick this in the frame to the back piece.

▪️Take Jamie Rodgers' Vintage Textured Pastel Paper Pad and select two sheets of coordinating pinks. Cut out the lightest pink with largest die from Jamie Rodgers In And Out Collection Hexagon Die Set and the darkest pink in the next size down .

▪️Then take Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and rub around the edges of both pieces.

Now cut out some of Sue Wilson’s NEW Heart Blooms (as you can see in the picture) and

Sam Poole's Shabby Basics -Alpha & Number Die Set to spell out "Meow" in white card.

▪️Using your Victorian Velvet ink, again with the water brush and Blending Mat, paint the little hearts onto the blooms.

First Your Design Together

▪️Cut the big round bloom off of its' stem and glue it into the canvas frame.

Take the long ones and stick those underneath the frame at opposite corners.

Now adhere this to the smaller paper hexagon as seen.

▪️Take a 6x6 card blank and stick the larger hexagon to it, with a pointed bit at the top and bottom centre. Then stick the whole frame piece on top.

▪️To finish, take the white letters "Meow" and glue these to the frame.

You can of course add a sentiment of your choice - a relative or occasion to make the card more personal. However, I love this and you’ve got to admit it’s a cute little kitty.

Thank you for all your blog views, likes and kind comments on Facebook.

We really do appreciate the feedback and there is nothing better for us as a Design Team to see what ideas you have. Please share them with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Take care
