Today, as part of our 'Spotlight' on Nellie Snellen, I am sharing this card with the Woodland Old House Scene. It did make me smile as I was looking at it... and have given it the nickname
The Hobbit House!! :-)
Getting Started.....
▪️Take a sheet of Mint Parchment Card and cut it using Sue Wilson's Noble Collection - Stitched Rectangle Nesting Die (Set B). Select the one that will fit your stamp like mine
▪️Use your Stamp Platform stamp out your image with Versafine Clair Ink Pad - Fallen Leaves.
▪️To colour my image, I used a combination of all three sets of Tim Holtz Water Colour Pencils.
✅ These are great fun to use, and match all the colours of your Distress Ink Pads :-)
▪️So easy to use - I just added the pencil to all the dark shaded areas, and then brought the colours out with a water brush. If you find it’s too dark, dab with a tissue!
🔹Don’t forget all the little flowers around the door - you might have to guess where to put them.
Then take the shade of 'Hickory Smoke' down a bit to extend the stamp, like a path. Also add a wash of 'Tumbled Glass' for the sky.

▪️Once your watercolours are dry, mat and layer with Cream and Khaki Maya Card.
Then stick this onto an 8x8 card blank
▪️I wanted something to take the plainness away... so here I have cut out two of Jamie Rodgers' Wings Of Wonder Part 2 - Swirl Corners Duo in the same Mint Parchment Card.
✅ I didn’t want it to be too bright, as it would take away the attention from the stamp.
▪️For the sentiment, I used Creative Expressions Wordies Sheets - Inspirational Set.
I cut out "Today Is A New Day" and then rubbed over it with my Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink Pad. I wiped over with a tissue so the colour wasn't too intense!
▪️I then cut out two of Jamie Rodgers "Merry Christmas" sentiments from his Pierced Collection.
I backed it in Mint Parchment and Cream Card to sit the sentiment on, but also cut the cream one in half (lengthways) to layer it behind the mint one. I then adhered to my card with foam pads.
If you do wish to add a little sparkle, why not use Sakura's Glitter Pens, Oakwood's Glitter Brush Pens?? Just an idea :-)
It really does look like a hobbit house and I love it lol.....
