Spellbinders Spotlight ~ Gumball Shaker By Lynn Lewis

Spellbinders Spotlight ~ Gumball Shaker By Lynn Lewis | Craftmania Blog

Hi guys!

Well for those of you who are following my blogs, I like to keep a promise :-)

I said that this design could be made into a shaker card, so here it is......

To make this cool card, you will need the Spellbinders Pop Up 3D Vignette Bubble Gum Machine Die Set. You can also find the Shopping List for this project at the bottom of this page.

1️⃣ To begin, I cut out 2 of the main bodies of the machine without the gumball die in blue mirror / metallic card along with the lid.

2️⃣ Using green mirror card, cut out the the lid, knob and rim plus the two rims that go around the body.

3️⃣ Using silver mirror card, cut out the sentiment and the mechanism pieces for the front, and use gold to make a little coin to go on the slot.

4️⃣ Oh and cut out one main body like the blue in plain black card.

Colours are completely your choice, but I love bright and bold for this design :-)

Now lets assemble....

▪️First I glued the two blue bodies together to reinforce them, and then cut the window frame off of the body as seen in my picture below.

▪️Make up the base by sticking on the green strips and the sentiment, before sticking on the mechanism and the gold coin. Add foam roll / tape onto the back and pop to one side.

CREATING YOUR SHAKER

▪️As the frame around this is quite narrow, you will have to patiently cut thin strips from a foam roll and stick them around the square.

✅ Here ideally you want a foam roll which gives good depth.

▪️Take the 'black body' and cut the window off and stick this to a piece of acetate.

When it’s stuck, trim the excess acetate from around the edges.

Now adhere the window to the blue side of the frame.

TIP - Wipe over your acetate before using it, with a Woodware Magic Anti-Static Pad to remove fluff and particles.

▪️Now I wasn’t happy about seeing all of those pads uneven on the sides, so out came my

Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue which I squeezed gently around the sides and covered with Holographic Glitterbitz in Teal Haze. Set aside to dry.

▪️Cut some thin strips of white card and line the pads on the inside to neaten those pads again.

I hope you can get an idea from the pictures.

▪️Now to test your will power lol.... add the Nerds (I wanted to use Skittles) but they were too big :-(

▪️To close, I had a scrap piece of acetate that had already been sprayed with the Dina Wakley Media Gloss Spray, so I cut and glued this to the frame with the spray side on the outside.

MAKING UP THE CARD

▪️I used the Oakwood Turquoise Pearl Card to make up my card base.

I folded the A4 sheet in half then trimmed it down about ¼ inch side and bottom.

To mat and layer, I used blue and turquoise Maya Card blue.

I also used my corner punches just for a change.

▪️Stick the knob and trim on the lid before sticking this on the top of the shaker element.

Once done, stick this onto your card and the machine base below it.

✅ The base is slightly lower in level than the top - this is done on purpose to give different depths.

▪️To finish, cut out your "Happy Birthday" die from Jamie Rodgers' Sentiments Collection - Essentials 2 Set. From the same Collection, I used the Relatives Set for "Brother" in the same blue Maya Card.

▪️For extra detail, on the back inside page of the card mat and layer with matching card to balance the card so it won't fall over.

I do hope you will give this a go.... I know my adult Brother will love this, as it's unusual and not something you would buy in the shops!!

Let's see how many of you can resist the sweets temptation and share with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Have a great day ~ best wishes,

Lynn x
