Spotlight - Oakwood Glitter Pens - Midnight Garden Easel Card - By Ian Rump-Smith | Craftmania

Hello lovely Crafters....

Hope you are all enjoying this fortnight's Spotlight these wonderful Oakwood Glitter Pens!!

My card this time is a little bit different... mainly as I was in the creative flow so it wasn't planned....

I wanted to use a 7x7 card base, but I didn't have that size, so I compromised and made a own; and then added it to a 6x6 card base.

▪️Take Sue Wilson's Noble Round Corner Square Die set, and create a mat and layer with silver mirri card, Maya blue card and black Maya card. Glue all these layers together.

▪️Next using a 6x6 card base, fold the front of the card in half and fold forward to make an easel.

Add Ultra Sticky Double Sided Tape to the folded half, and add then the layered front to the card.

▪️Next we will do the base Mat and layer.... this is just silver and Maya blue.

Now let's bring out the inner artist in you :-)

▪️Using the next die size down for the base layers; cut this in Foundations Coconut White Card and then using the Creative Expressions Paper Cuts Fairy Whispers Die, centre the die and run though your machine.

✅ When pushing out the pieces from your die cut, make sure you save the fairies arm for later.

The Vaessen Creative 3 in 1 Die Cut Tool is brilliant for removing paper from intricate dies and makes it quicker and easier!

▪️Now using your Oakwood Glitter Brush Pens, colour in the image and background. I have listed some tips to help:

✅ Lift the wings and use a piece of paper to protect the background when colouring

✅ Water down the colour you use for the background

✅ Watered down Fawn colour is ideal for a skin tone

Optional - add some vellum, glitter paper, pearlescent paper to the back of the wings. I prefer to use these, as it is easier to cut around the wings - card would be more difficult.

▪️Once finished and the inks have dried, glue the panel to the card.

▪️I used a white gel pen to add some stars to the black background around the fairy.

▪️Next I used some Foundations Coconut White Card to cut out the Wings Of Wonder - Cherry Blossom Die set.

Cut some flowers and foliage and then colour with your pens.

Do an arrangement that suits your card - you could pop them all the way around the card if you wish.

Glue these cuts to the card.

TIP - I used some Cosmic Shimmer 3D Pearl Accents in Decadent Teal for the centre of the flowers. This product is perfect as they come in a multitude colours, and they are self levelling to enable you to create your own coloured pearls.

▪️To ensure the card stands, I created a stopper on the inside using Wings Of Wonder - Cherry Blossom and Flourish Corner.

I cut this in Gold Mirri Card 3 times and glued all layers together.

Using some foam pads, add this to the blue mat on the inside of the card.

I cut a flower from the Wings Of Wonder Cherry Blossom set to put in the centre of the stopper.

Add some of the Cosmic Shimmer 3D Pearl Accent Glue to the centre if the flower.

I chose not to use a sentiment on this card, and let you choose because you could use it for some many different occasions....

Thanks for joining me and I will be back with a new card very soon!

Best wishes
