Sweet Dixie Spotlight - Taking Flight - By Ian Rump-Smith

A handmade butterfly card
Sweet Dixie Spotlight - Taking Flight - By Ian Rump-Smith | Craftmania

Here we are again with another 'Spotlight Blog' featuring one of the fantastic Sweet Dixie dies!

This one is the Lacy Butterfly and is a stand alone die - with so much potential....

✅ You will find the shopping list of products used at the end of this blog

▪️I started by using a DL card for my base.

▪️I then used my Creative Expressions Rectangle Die set to 'mat and layer,' Silver Mirri card and Craftmania's Marbled Cloud card. (I love this card as it gives a lovely sky effect instantly).

Now let's get a little messy with the Lacy Butterfly die....

▪️Cut out using Creative Expressions Double Sided Adhesive Sheet; one in white card and another in pink vellum.

▪️Set aside the one created in vellum

Now carefully peel the backing sheet off of the butterfly (left side) and lie onto the white card diecut. Slowly pull the rest of the backing sheet away as you stick it down.

▪️Next, peel off the top layer and sprinkle with Cosmic Shimmer Golden Rose Aurora Flakes.

Using an Applicator Sponge, in circular motions, gently burnish the flakes into the sticky area. Once done, shake off any excess pieces.... it will look stunning!

TIP - To set your flakes and prevent shedding, you can lightly spritz with a little hairspray!

▪️Glue the butterfly to the centre of your card (at an angle), and then glue the vellum butterfly to the top - only gluing the body and not the wings.

It should curl and give a nice 3D effect, but if not just tease the wings with a pencil.

I've added some white pearls to the body of the butterfly as a nice finishing touch :-)

This just leaves sentiments to complete the card... I used Sue Wilson's 'From Me To You' die for the bottom of the card.

▪️Cut from a Self Adhesive Sheet (backed by card) and covered with the Aurora Flakes.

▪️For the top sentiment, I used Sue Wilson's 'You Are The Best.'

I cut this 3 times - one in white for the base, one in pink and then another in blue.

I snipped off the "you" and "best" and glued to the white layer.

▪️Glue this to your card and we are finished!

How easy was that!

I hope this has given you some more ideas and inspiration... which we are hoping you will share with us on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania and Jamie Rodgers | Facebook
