The Gift of Christmas by Ian Rump-Smith

Happy Wednesday Crafters!

So we had a change in weather for a few days, so it felt cold and I thought let's stay with a Christmas feel for this week.

Rodney has been in the spotlight lately, but Father Christmas is starting to take over the stage!

I wanted a rustic feel to my card, so let me show you how I created it.

Step One:

For my base card I took one of the Jamie Rodgers Crafts 8" x 8" Pebble Grey cards and cut my 2 layers

I used my stitched Square dies and cut one layer in Red Mirror card and the next one down in Polar White card.

Taking a piece of Polar White card and the Father Christmas stamp from The Gift of Christmas stamp set, I Inked up the image.

I used a stamping block and Black Panther - Quick Dry Pigment Ink

Such a jolly Image!

Step Two:

Using my Alcohol markers I proceeded to colour in my image.

You can use anything you like, ink pads, pencils or paints.

I then used a craft knife to cut out my image, giving a slight bleed around the edge.

As I say, looking at my result I suddenly thought, let's add some dimension to the Jolly man.

Using some CS Fluffy Stuff, I covered the white trims of his suit.

Using my heat gun I puffed up the paste.

Step Three:

With my stamp still on my block I did my background next and randomly stamped him onto my white layer

Next, using my blending brushes I added some colour around my edges. I used Squirrel Red and Chameleon Green - Quick Dry Pigment Ink Pads

Starting with the red, I felt it looked good on it's own, but I wanted more rustic so I added the green after.

Next I cut some straight lines in gold mirror card using my Straight Line Die.

I wanted to frame my layers with these die cuts and make my card have an elegant feel as well as rustic.

Using my Jamie Rodgers Crafts - Clear Drying Glue, I proceeded to glue the wider lines around my red layer and the thinner around the white layer.

Once done I glued the red layer to my card base and then using foam tape I added to the white layer.

Step Four:

Have you used the Jamie Rodgers Crafts corner dies yet?

So easy and time saving to use as they have a centre die that allows you to easily cut 4 at once.

I used the Jolly Holly corners and cut in gold mirror card.

I glued these to the corners of my white layer

I added my Jolly Father Christmas to my card using foam pads and put him at the centre of the base of my card.

For my sentiment, I stamped out the Merry Christmas one from the stamp set onto white card.

Once cut I used my red blending brush from earlier and didn't add any ink but used what was left on it and blended some around the edges.

I then mat and layered my sentiment onto green, red and gold mirror card.

Using foam tape I added my sentiment to the top centre of my card.

To finish up I added red pearls to the red layer corners and then used Dovecraft Ruby Glitter glue to the berry parts of the gold corners.

Well that was a nice simple make and I love the way the card had the elements of elegance and rustic at the same time.

The rain has not stopped while I made my card and it's actually quite chilly, so quite apt for my card today.

Thanks for joining me guys and hope I have given you some inspiration for using this beautiful stamp set!

See you all next week and keep crafting!
