As the smell of Spring is in the air, I thought we should make a floral card using some 'classic' dies from the last year.... and with a secret hidden message.
Step 1
I started with a white 6x6" card base.
I then cut a 6x6" square in white card which I put into my Brick Wall Embossing Folder and ran through my machine.
📝 NOTE - Check your machine instructions to ge the correct sandwich.
The press is so 3D and looks amazing!
Using a craft knife I cut out a little section for my secret message. Keep this piece aside.
I used Frayed Burlap and Forest Moss Distress Oxide Inks and coloured using my blending brushes.
Also don't forget the piece that was cut away...
I stuck a piece of black card at the back of the cut away, ready to put my message on.
Also I added a die cut butterfly to the centre; this acts as a handle to remove the bricks and reveal my message.
Step 2
Add the embossed wall to the front of your card.
✅ TIP - Cut down if needed, as a slight white border always looks good to give your card a frame.
Here I've used a sentiment from a Creative Expressions Wordies Pack.
Celebrations is a really good pack to start with, loads of choices and a lovely font.
I glued the sentiment to the black area in my wall.
Next I cut out my door (as in the photo 📸) using Creative Expressions Fairy Village - Magical Door.
I coloured with the following Oxides:
▪️Gathered Twigs
▪️Scorched Timber
▪️Hickory Smoke
I cut three doors and cut out the extra pieces from the other two, and then did two extra door steps. 📝 NOTE - The blue circle is to go behind the door window.
Once paper pieced together, glue to your card base.
Step 3
Now come the fun part I always love doing.... cutting out a nice range of flowers and foliage.
I used the following die sets :
▪️Creative Expressions Rippled Poinsettia
▪️Creative Expressions Pierced Collection Daisy Blossoms
▪️Creative Expressions Fairy Wishes Deckled Edge Blossoms
▪️Creative Expressions Wings of Wonder Cherry Blossoms
▪️Creative Expressions Fairy Village Magical Door
I cut out a nice selection from the sets. The smaller flower cuts are the best
Using the following colours of Distress Oxide Inks, I coloured my die cuts
Leaves : Bundled Sage
Forest Moss
Rustic Wilderness
Shabby Shutters
Flowers : Milled Lavender
Tumbled Glass
Broken China
Mustard Seed
As always I moulded some of the die cuts on my moulding mat with embossing tools
I started the refreshing task of gluing the flowers and foliage to my design, using every piece except for one daisy.
Add gems to flower centres if needed; I also added a few die cut butterflies to my design!
There we go... really simple yet a great themed card!
I hope this is a card will inspire you to give it a go and create your own 'walled garden.'
