Krafty Teddy Shaker Valentine's Card By Ian Rump-Smith

Krafty Teddy Shaker Valentines Card By Ian Rump-Smith | Craftmania Blog

Well I have hung up my Christmas Stocking up as so to speak.... and now it's time for Romance :-)

I love this card as it's different to what people would normally think a Valentine Card should be -

but you know by now I like to be a little different lol!!

Stage 1

▪️Ok, so I started with a 6x6 Kraft card base and using my Make Art Stay-tion, I stencilled the front of my card.

▪️From Jamie Rodgers' Everlasting Love Collection, I used the Creative Expressions

Heart Blossoms Stencil - secured to my card with the magnets.

▪️Using Blending Sponges and Distress Oxide Inks - Kitsch Flamingo and Vintage Photo, I blended in small sections of the stencil until covered.

Step 2

▪️Now set the card base aside whilst we make our shaker Teddy.

▪️I took the Teddy Bear Die Set and cut 2 out of an A4 sheet of Kraft Card.

I also used the heart die from the set to cut the belly on my front heart, as this will be the window for the shaker.

▪️I also cut out extra feet and a muzzle and saved the die cut heart!

▪️I painted my bears using the same two Distress Oxide colours and put some onto a glass mat which I sprayed with water.

See Photo below to see my finished pieces 📸

Step 3

▪️Turn over the front piece of the bear and cut a piece of acetate which will cover the heart window. I used double sided tape for this to ensure of no leaks :-).

▪️Next I used some slim double sided foam tape to go around the outside of the heart.

TOP TIP : Use a little talc around the inside area of your tape to prevent anything sticking to it when you fill your shaker. Wipe away any talc from the accetate if needed.

▪️I then used tiny gems and gently put about half full inside the heart.

Carefully peel off the back of the tape and layer up the other Teddy face down.

Stick on the feet using foam pads.

Step 4

I love Jamie's flowers and the Rose Blossoms in this Collections are perfect.

▪️Using the left over Kraft card, I cut some different size flower petals and leaves.

▪️Using my blending sponges I coloured my pieces.

Here I used oxides again in Kitsch Flamingo, Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint.

▪️Using my foam mat (or Woodware's Shaping Pal), I moulded my flowers and leaves to give extra dimension and then glued them together using a wet glue.

Now I will be honest and let you into a secret.... as us crafter's always have disasters!

The center of my flowers did have some Cosmic Shimmer Pearlesant Glue on them, but due to me not shaking it well enough prior to using, it came out like water. So always shake!!

An alternative could be gems or pearls

Step 5

▪️Next.... I put my card together; if you're like me and it doesn't always go to plan, place your elements down before diving in and jjusyt sticking lol!!

▪️I finished it off using the Essentials 3 sentiment dies from the Collection with Happy Valentine's Day using Matt Gold card.

Well I hope you enjoyed my card with a difference.... :-)

This Teddy is adorable and is great for so many occasions... I promise you'll fall in love with him!
