Spotlight -Oakwood's Glitter Brush Pens ~ Shimmery Oasis By Lynn Lewis | Craftmania

Hi Crafters.....

We hope you are enjoying our shares so far with the fabulous Oakwood Glitter Brush Pens... and finding inspiration on how you can use them!

You can find the Shopping List for my project at the bottom of this page.

Today, I am going to be sharing with you, how to use the technique of watercoloring with the pens. I really enjoyed it, and found it rather therapeutic.... so here goes

▪️Using Memento Ink - London Fog, stamp out the Designer Boutique Stamp - Flamingo Oasis onto a sheet of watercolour card.

TIP - I specifically chose this colour, because I didn't want harsh black outlines against the softer watercolour shades.

▪️Next, using a waterproof mat (or tile), take your pens and start colouring in your image.

TIP - I found that if you squeeze a little out onto the mat first, you can then paint it on with a Waterbrush, diluting it with a little water to get a lighter colour - they also mixed and blende well too.

See my picture below.

The pen colours I have used here are :- Turquoise, Coral, Apple Green and Gold.

Watercolour card is quite forgiving, so don’t worry if you need to work back over areas to achieve the effect you want. Just go with the flow and paint how you feel happy, it’s amazing what you can do with four pens.

I have added some close ups, so you can see the glitter, as it doesn’t capture this on my main picture.

Once finished leave to dry...

▪️Take a Sakura Bright White Gelly Roll Pen and colour the tips of the top feathers, and the stripes and dots on the other flamingo feathers.

▪️Next, fill in the beak with the white pen and then take a very fine archival-type black pen and detail the beak tip and the eye. You can lighten the tips on the water lily petals with the white pen too.

▪️Now trim it down to size; create a mat and layer using Blue Maya Card and Pink Cotton Foundations Card.

▪️For the card base, cut down a 10 x 7" card a little, so the image fits perfectly!

▪️Once you've glued your mat and layers onto the card, die cut some flowers using

Creative Expressions - Cherry Blossom dies from the Wings Of Wonder Collection. Make just enough to create one flower and the curved leaves!

▪️Colour the flowers with your Coral Glitter Brush Pen, the leaves with Apple Green, and once dry, shape and stick together before attaching to the card.

▪️Using the Creative Expressions - Butterfly Confetti Die, take one of the Butterflies and colour it with the turquoise pen, and add a little black line in the middle - stick this on your card.

TIP - When using this die, always keep any spare butterflies as these are ideal for finishing touches, or covering up any mistakes lol!!

I hope you enjoy making this card as much as I have... and if you haven't yet tried using watercolours (or this technique) then I highly recommend it - it's so much fun!!!!

Please remember, we would love to see your makes on our Facebook Group - Create With Craftmania And Jamie Rodgers.

Take care for now
